As a member of WADA, the IPSF is required to follow the rules and guidelines provided by the organization. As a pole & aerial sports athlete, you might find yourself with a medical condition or illness that might require a medication. If you intend to compete at a National or International level, you have to make sure that your medication does not afford you a competitive advantage. If this medication contains a substance or requires an administration method that is on the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods (issued by WADA), you may apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE).

In this document, we aim to provide a guide of the steps an athlete should follow to obtain a TUE. A TUE allows you to use the medication or method as it will not afford you a competitive advantage, but rather ensure you can compete in a proper state of health.

Procedure:

1. Make sure your medication is/is not on the list
   The first step in the process of obtaining a TUE is to make sure that the medication you are taking is included in the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods. This list is published by WADA every year, for 2024 you can read it here: https://www.wada-ama.org/sites/default/files/2022-09/2023list_en_final_9_september_2022.pdf. If you do not find your medication on the list, no further action is needed.
2. The medication I am taking is on the list.
   If your medication is on the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods 2024 you should ask your doctor to check for an alternative medication that is not on the WADA list. If this is not possible you doctor must complete the IPSF TUE document provided here.
3. My doctor filled up the IPSF TUE document.
   The document has been completed and sign by your doctor, now you can send it to anti-doping@ipsfsports.org at least two (2) weeks before the National or International competition you are participating in.
   You will receive an email approving or denying your inquiry in a maximum of seven days from the moment you sent the email.
